OUR Y

The Muskegon YMCA has been a constant in our community since 1916 promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility through programs and activities. The YMCA and the YWCA of Muskegon merged in 1972 and a few short years later, in 1979, the YMCA moved to 900 West Western. In October of 2015, the Muskegon YMCA sold the fitness facility and became what is known in the YMCA Movement as a non-facility YMCA.

Like almost 200 non-facility YMCAs across the country, we address current community health and wellness needs where they are most prevalent— at sites throughout the community. Our Y now serves over 10,000 individuals annually through outreach programs at over 25 sites throughout Muskegon County. YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are woven into every policy and program.

Our proud camping heritage began when YMCA Camp Pendalouan was established in 1923. Camp Pendalouan is a year-round outdoor education center, summer camp, and conference facility serving schools, families and organizations. Pendalouan serves over 10,000 kids annually.

OUR MISSION

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

INCLUSION STATEMENT

To fulfill our purpose of strengthening community for all, the Muskegon YMCA is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in order to leverage our collective resources to address social inequities.

The Muskegon YMCA is an organization open to all people. We welcome and value individuals of all age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, gender expression, ability, sexual orientation or financial circumstance. We are committed to embracing diversity in order to fulfill our mission for all.

WHERE WE SERVE

As a Y Without Walls, our programming takes place at our partner locations throughout the community.

Our interactive map highlights the diverse range of sites where we bring our impactful programs to life, from local schools and parks to community centers and health facilities.

Explore the map to see how our Y reaches every corner of our community, providing essential services like Safety Around Water, Livestrong for cancer survivors, Veggie Vanâ„¢ mobile farmers market, and engaging youth camps.
