Food Distribution Friday reached a monumental milestone on Friday, January 22. The Muskegon YMCA distributed its 100,000 meal, helping meet the needs of families across Muskegon County.

Food insecurity is real and has been greatly heightened due to the pandemic. The Muskegon YMCA is here to serve the community and has worked to help fill the need. Beginning food distribution in August, and continuing weekly at least through June of 2021, and probably beyond.

The menu is intentionally filled with fresh fruits and vegetables and follows closely to the YMCA of the USA guidelines of Healthy Eating. Each week, over 12,000 meals are prepared and distributed via a meal bundle. Each bundle contains 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches.

Distribution is a contact free drive through on Houston near the corner of 3rd and Houston on Fridays from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for students 18 & under. To date, over 150,000 meals have been distributed, and counting.
