A Healthy future begins with our Kids
The Muskegon YMCA provides summer and after-school programs that teach healthy habits through physical activity and hands-on nutrition education. Programs are custom designed using evidence-based programs to combat the root causes of childhood obesity and address specific needs – we build programs with our partners to meet the needs of specific schools and neighborhoods.
We use C.A.T.C.H. Curriculum – Coordinated Approach to Child Health. The original C.A.T.C.H. study was the largest school-based health promotion study ever conducted in the United States. C.A.T.C.H. continues to be tested and improved by researchers.
Through a partnership with the Grand Rapids YMCA, the Nutrition in Action Curriculum is also offered to area kids. Nutrition in Action uses a whole-school approach to promote culturally appropriate hands-on nutrition education for students, parents, and educators.
