We’re thrilled to highlight one of our newest board members, Martha Samuel, whose commitment and passion continue to drive the mission of the Muskegon YMCA forward.
Joining the Muskegon YMCA board wasn’t initially on Martha’s radar, but when the Y approached her, she felt honored. Since returning to Muskegon about eight years ago, Martha has been actively engaged in the community. With two full board meetings under her belt, she feels great about the work being done.
Martha is particularly passionate about Safety Around Water, SPLASH, and YMCA Camp Pendalouanās Outdoor Education program. These initiatives focus on educating youth about the importance of leadership and help foster strong social and emotional growth. The community is fortunate to have access to incredible lakes and water resources, and Martha believes in the importance of teaching water safety to youth: āLeadership spans across water safety and having hands-on experiences at Camp Pendalouan. Our young people need the support of our community in growing into their best-selves. I truly believe in the work thatās being done with these initiatives.ā
When it comes to her time away from work and service, family is at the top of Martha’s list. She loves supporting her children and also enjoys traveling and reading. Recently, she has taken up knitting and running. Martha is also trying something new, so stay tuned for her next adventure!
Join us in celebrating Martha and her invaluable contributions to the Muskegon YMCA.
