We are searching for the following staff:

Referral Coordinator:

The Muskegon YMCA is in search of a Diabetes Prevention Program Referral Coordinator works with community resources to create and administer a referral infrastructure in Muskegon County.  Within this position, tasks may include, but are not limited to project management and implementation, writing local program guidelines, and developing program materials for communication to stakeholders.   To find out more, or to apply, please email a resume with salary expectations to mwikman(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)muskegonymca.org (Melissa) with the subject line “Referral Coordinator.”  We look forward to hearing from you.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, nursing, nutrition, epidemiology, health sciences, health education, community health, social work, or a closely related field.  Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in managing and delivering community-based health programming is preferred.
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to meet deadlines and achieve quality results.
  • Ability to respond professionally to multiple ever-changing responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical leaders and administrators providing a clear understanding of appropriate technology solutions to support and enhance business needs.  Prior experience leading multi-site initiatives and work with communities preferred.
  • Some knowledge of multiple technologies and experience with enterprise-wide applications and systems in an integrated work environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing and managing project budgets, program, and front-line staff.
  • Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, and project objectives of the Muskegon YMCA.

Youth Outreach Instructor:

Want to make a difference in your community while living a healthier lifestyle?  Then the Y might be the place for you.  The Muskegon YMCA is looking for after school program instructors to work with kids at various sites throughout our community. Requirements for this position include:

  • Some experience working with children (examples include preschool assistant, camp counselor, child care, sports camp, or similar experience)

  • Friendly, positive attitude
  • After school availability/evenings during the summer
  • Training on specific physical activity curriculum will be provided

Safety Around Water Instructor:

Requirements for this position include:

  • Must have basic swim knowledge and skill equivalent to Minnow level swimmer
  • Swim instructor certification is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively to both children and adults
  • Must be mature, responsible, alert, and professional
  • Must be 18 years of age, or older
  • Must attend CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and other safety trainings when offered
  • Must be a friendly, positive team player
  • Must have a wide range of availability
