Healthy Eating for Kids

HEALTHY EATING FOR KIDS

Most of us know how important it is for kids to play actively every day, but what we eat is just as important for our health. We introduce healthy eating habits to all ages through fun and engaging activities.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

One in six children in the U.S. don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The summer is a particularly vulnerable time for kids who rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year. At the Y, we know that children who receive daily nutrition are set up to succeed. During the pandemic, the Muskegon YMCA jumped into action, providing an average of 1,000 meals to kids in Muskegon per day, for a year. While the pandemic may be subsiding, there are still hungry kids in Muskegon. That’s why we’re helping kids reach their full potential by providing free access to healthy snacks and meals when school’s out for summer.

WHO IT'S FOR

  • Qualifying West Michigan Schools
  • Local Summer Youth Programs

Through partnership, the Muskegon YMCA can utilize federal funds as a Child and Adult Care Food Program certified provider as well as during the summer months a Summer Food Service Program certified provider to area programs. If you are interested in the Muskegon YMCA sponsoring your summer program and providing breakfast and/or lunch, contact us.
