Youth Aquatics
Youth Aquatic Classes - 6 to 12 years
If
a class is full please register on the waiting list. New classes will
be opened whenever possible. Classes that do not meet minimum
enrollment will be cancelled and participants moved to another class.
All missed classes must be made up within the same session. If you need
to make up a class, please call 722-9622 ext 227 to speak with
Jeannette.

This
is a rate special for those with a Family YMCA membership. If you
have a Family YMCA membership at the Muskegon YMCA, you may receive a
reduced rate on select program fees beyond what is given to other YMCA
members when noted! Please speak with the front desk for more
information on how you can upgrade your membership to take advantage of
this opportunity! (This offer does not apply to financially discounted family memberships.)
Swim Level Descriptions - 6 years to 12 years
Your child will progress through the six skill levels described below. Water safety skills are taught in all levels:
Polliwog- Learn water adjustment, floating, blowing bubbles, paddle-stroke, swimming on back and side.
Guppy- Works on longer floating, treading water, front crawl, rotary breathing, back crawl, and swimming 25 meters.
Minnow- Covers front and back crawl, sidestroke, breast stroke, elementary backstroke, treading water, and diving skills.
Fish-
Skills include perfecting breast stroke, dolphin kick, elementary
backstroke, front and back crawl, longer survival float, treading
water, and basic first aid.
Flying Fish- Covers butterfly, breast stroke, individual medley, turns, dives, underwater swimming, and personal growth
Shark-
Become a strong swimmer and learn skills for competitive swimming such
as racing starts and flip turn. Lifesaving stroke medley and basic
lifesaving skills are also taught.
MUSKEGON SWIM TEAM (MYST) - 6 - 12 YRS - 1055-30220
***MUSKEGON FAMILY YMCA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED***
The
MYST competes with other YMCAs and USA teams during weekend meets.
Participants must be at least 6 years of age and at or above Minnow
level.
Orientation
for all new and returning members is Monday, Sept. 13th at 6:00pm.
Practice begins Monday Sept. 20th. The season runs from September to
February.
10 and under: Muskegon YMCAMon/Thurs from 4:00 - 5:30pm, Fridays 4:00 - 6:00pm.
TriCities YMCATues/Weds from 4:30 - 6:00pm, Fridays 4:00 - 6:00pm.NOTE: 10 and under can swim at either location all 5 days if they choose.
11 and up:
Muskegon High School
Mon thru Thurs from 6:00 - 8:00pm

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS - 30390
Swimmers
of all ages and abilities can enhance their skills with one-on-one
instruction. If you and a friend would like to take lessons together,
semiprivate lessons are also available. Advance payment and
registration is required for each half-hour session.
FEES:
Members: $15 - Private $9/person - Semiprivate
Nonmembers: $30 - Private $17/person - Semiprivate
WHITE LAKE COMMUNITY EDUCATION SWIM LESSONS
Lessons are held once a week at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Whitehall.
Session Dates: September 22 - October 29
November 3 - December 17
All Classes are ONE day per week for SIX weeks

OPEN SWIM
This
is a time for all ages to play and exercise in a free swim environment.
Children under 10 years if age need direct adult supervision to ensure
the pleasure and safety of all participants. Non-swimming children may
wear swim belts or bring a Coast Guard approved life jacket. Children
wearing flotation devices must have a parent in the water by them at
all times.
